Shoals Earth Day Poster Contest

Contest Rules
Poster Contest Title:  Recycle in The Shoals

Open to students in grades 1-4 who attend school in Lauderdale or Colbert County.  Posters must be created on a piece of poster board or paper sized 11”x17” - 22”x28”.

Students may use crayons, markers, colored pens, paints, and colored pencils to create their designs.  Poster entries must involve recycling in the Shoals and must say “Earth Day Shoals 2008” somewhere on the poster.

Posters will be judged individually and a winner will be selected in each age division; no classroom or group posters will be selected.

Age Divisions:
1st and 2nd Grades
3rd and 4th Grades

Posters must be submitted by April 11, 2008.

“Shoals in the Spring” Earth Day Photo Contest

Contest Rules
Each submission must include:

A completed entry form signed by student and parent or guardian may be submitted via fax at 256-740-4141, mail, or brought to our office.  Entries will not be accepted without a signed entry form.

Shoals Earth Day Science Project Contest

Contest Rules
A classroom or individual student in Grades K-6 who attend(s) school in Lauderdale or Colbert County may enter into the Shoals Earth Day Science Project Contest.  The only limitation to the science project is that it must be earth or environment related.  Get creative! 
Entries submitted by a class will be judged in their class division and the entire class will receive an award.  The teacher of that class will receive a separate award. 
Individual student entries will be judged with other individuals in their class division with the individual student receiving an award.  The winning students’ class teachers will also receive an award. 
Science Projects must be brought to Wilson Park in downtown Florence on April 19th by 1pm to be judged during the Shoals Earth Day celebration.  The winner will be announced after judging on that day and awards will then be given. 

Middle School and High school entries will be judged separately.
